Il Romanzo di Cipollino

I have just finished project dedicated to italian writer Gianni Rodary. I did illustrations inspired by his book "Ill Romanzo di Copillino". It's one of my favorite childhood books about Little Onion, who is brave enough to rebel against greedy King Lemon and mean Senior Tomato.
I tried to show, in pictures I created, a adventurous and brave characteristics of Little Onion and dynamic spirit of the book.

"A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings"

Illustrations for Gabriel Garcia Marquez's story"A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings". Story is about family who discovers an old man with huge wings in their yard, presumably, fallen from sky. They lock him with chickens and earn lots of money by showing old man with enormous wings to curious crowds. Until everyone gets fed up, because old man doesn't talk understandable language or show any magic. Finally, onlookers finds new attractions, like a girl who was turned into a spider. She is much more exciting because she can talk: explain what happened to her. While oLd man with enormous wings is forgotten in a mud at the edge of yard. For everyone is such a relief when he finally flies away.

Bible: "Noah's Ark"

The eternal circle of life and death. It always starts with two people and then ends up with over populated world. Even the flood couldn't deprive humanity, it came back and sins even more.

"Story in reverse"

These are few illustrations I have done for a book "Story in reverse". Ilse Aichinger's "Story in reverse" is about girl who wakes up from dead and relives her live backwards and dies as a newborn baby. In these three images above I have pictured the main character and her lover in grief. For me it is a sad but common story about live and death but told in very unconventional way.

Lonely Hearts ad

This is real ad from Manchester Evening News paper:
"Easy-going black Muslim M, 45, 6'2", medium build, no children, seeks tall, very pear-shaped, large F, 30s size 22+, for long-term relationship & marriage"
I imagined man who wrote the ad and potential replier. My idea was based around fertility dolls as as a statues of pear shaped woman used to be symbols of reproducibility.

And a song to set up mood:

Project "Memory": Evil Kids

These images I created when thinking about term 'fake' witness. I found it fascinating that children play war games even if they never had actual experience.
